An article entitled “Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan Wants To Nurture Entrepreneurship In Singapore”, talks about Singaporean entrepreneur Min-Liang Tan shares why he left Singapore back in the day, why he decided to return, and what lies ahead for him and Razer.
Min-Liang Tan is the CEO of Razer, one of the world’s leading gaming hardware and software companies. He has built his company to be a leader in the industry by focusing on three key aspects: quality products, support for game developers, and an aggressive global expansion strategy. The Razer CEO’s vision for Razer is not just about conquering the digital universe, though; it is also about changing our perception of what games can do.
How Tan Started Razer
In 2005, Min-Liang Tan joined hands with Robert Krakoff to co-found Razer. At the time, Tan was a freshman at the University of California-San Diego and funded his startup using USD 20 000 loans from friends and family. In 2017, Forbes listed Min-Liang Tan as one of its top 30 under 30 entrepreneurs by Inc magazine.
The Razer Edge Pro Gaming Tablet
In 2013, Tan envisioned a laptop that could be both powerful and portable. He asked the team to build him one but soon found out that it was impossible without sacrificing power or performance. The engineers developed an innovative solution of using detachable controllers for gaming while still using the tablet as a standard PC. This product was named Razer Edge Pro and became one of the critical milestones in the company’s history.
Decentralized Digital Currency
Min-Liang Tan has always been fascinated by cryptocurrencies, but he realized that too many third parties were genuinely decentralized. So, Tan decided to create his cryptocurrency. In 2018, Tan announced that Razer would be releasing a new decentralized digital currency called zGold. It is said to work with all the existing currencies and be used as virtual gift cards for gamers’ favorite stores such as Amazon or Steam.
