Under Baer’s leadership, the San Francisco Giants have modernized operations, grown revenues and achieved several on-field accomplishments. In addition to being consistently ranked as one of the most popular teams in Major League Baseball, the Giants have led the Major Leagues in average home attendance for each of the past six seasons.

For the 2013 season, the Giants hosted the highest average home attendance of any team at the Giants’ new ballpark, AT&T Park. And in 2012, the Giants had the best record of any National League club in their new ballpark, posting an 88-74 record. During Baer’s tenure, the Giants have advanced to the postseason four times (including winning the World Series in 2010 and 2012).

The journey began during his initial interview with Mark Walter and Giants CEO Larry Baer in November of 1992. Baer’s plan for an iconic, state of the art Giants ballpark for the first time in a half-century was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors of Pacific Partners and the Giants ownership in January 1993. For 24 years, the Giants have been planning for and building a privately financed home.

The ballpark will feature 365 luxury seats, over 800 executive boxes, a 10,000 square foot retail pavilion, bars and restaurants, an indoor promenade, 3,000 parking spaces, a 210,000-square foot G-Corp Business Center and a world class fan experience. The ballpark is scheduled to open in 2020 and is funded in large part by Larry Baer.

During his first years as the Giants CEO, Larry Baer adopted a comprehensive strategy that was both bold and aggressive. Baer’s vision for the future of the organization entailed creating a “Main Event” atmosphere that would captivate local fans and attract new fans to Giants baseball.

Baer’s plan called for the team to “open the wallet” by adding all-star caliber players that would give the Giants a roster capable of winning consistently while building a new fan base among millennials and Generation X.

He also oversaw the design of several new, state of the art, baseball-specific stadiums to enhance the game day experience. Larry Baer has been around the block.
